Candice has a blog. She writes about her joys, her fears, her family. She has one daughter from her first marriage, and she’s grateful for that. From her second marriage she has triplets -girls- and one of them is autistic. She’s grateful for that. She finally had a little boy, and she’s also grateful fot that. But she’s not a saint. So she didn’t want her oldest daughter to have a stepmother.
But it happened. Some years ago, her ex-husband also remarried. He married a beautiful 29-year-old. Later on, she wrote her a letter: “To my daughter’s stepmom…”
“I never wanted you here. You simply were never part of the plan.” The letter to her ex-husband’s new wife starts off like most women dealing with split families and second marriages feel. “I can almost bet that when you dreamed of becoming a mother it would be the day you gave birth and not the day you married your husband,” she writes. “I’m pretty sure you never planned on me being here.”
