A mother named Jodie Norton was left feeling sick and grateful when she learned her sons had nearly been abducted but were saved by a lesson she had taught them recently.
One day while showering, Jodie felt a severe and stabbing pain in the abdomen. She felt so bad that she knew she needed to get herself to hospital urgently.
She bundled her two older kids, aged 8 and 10 into the car and sped over to the ER. On the way to the hospital she phoned her neighbour on their cell and asked if they could look after the boys while she went in for surgery on what turned out to be an ovarian cyst.
Jodie made an error on that call to her neighbour though. She assumed they were at home which was just a short drive from the hospital but they were in fact 40 minutes away. Jodie left her boys on a bench outside the hospital while she was rushed in for her surgery.
When Jodie returned and was feeling better, she heard that her two boys were approached by three weird strangers. They attempted to lure the kids into a bathroom in the hospital with one of the strange men. It’s very clear that these people wanted to kidnap or otherwise hurt the little kids.
While discussing the situation on her blog, she said:
‘I had wrongly assumed my neighbor was coming from his house (not somewhere farther away), so my two boys sat out front of the ER for 40 minutes. Not the five minutes I had expected. Their story of what had transpired while I had stupidly left them out there alone made me simultaneously sick and grateful.’
