Last month, 22-year-old Marinna Rollins – a former soldier – was charged in connection with the shooting death of her dog. The charges were brought after video of Marinna shooting her “emotional support dog” on video was leaked on social media. In addition to the charges, THOUSANDS of people flooded her social media accounts with HATE messages.
And all that hate was too much for her. This weekend, Marinna committed suicide.Authorities said Rollins suffered from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and other emotional issues.
The Dog Killer
22-year-old former soldier Marinna Rollins was the subject of a major online controversy after she and her boyfriend recorded the shooting of her own dog in the woods. The dog was an “emotional support dog” that had been assigned to her after returning from war, but clearly she needed more mental health counseling than a dog.
After the video was leaked to media, Marinna received thousands of hate messages, attacking her for being so cruel and taking the life of an innocent animal for fun. She and fellow soldier Jarren Heng took the dog to the woods in Fayetteville, North Carolina and shot the dog five times in close range.
It’s Been Real
In the sickening video, you can hear Marinna say ‘It’s been real… I love you, you’re my puppy, you’re a good puppy, but…’ right before killing and burying the pup in a shallow grave. After being arrested, the two were being held on $25,000 bail.
It turns out the online hate and disapproval from those around her was too much to handle, because police found her body in her home at about 3 a.m. Authorities say she suffered from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and other emotional issues, so the online attacks took her over the edge.
The sickest part of all was the post Marinna wrote before killing the dog, making it seem as though she was going to give him to a new family. “I felt like her having to take care of Huey would be good for her and would be good for Huey,” Marinna’s estranged husband said about adopting the dog for her. It’s obvious this young woman was deeply troubled, because no one in their right mind would record the murder of their own pet.
