When it comes to childbirth and pregnancy, there are certain elements that aren’t always the easiest to share. For a couple becoming new parents, there are several adjustments that have to be made and, often times, sacrifices as well.
For the Bacon family, they decided to embrace some of these weird changes by taking “uncensored” motherhood photos and sharing them to Facebook.
Meet the Bacons
‘“Nothing says welcome to motherhood like an adorable squishy baby, and a giant mom diaper,” claimed Amanda Bacon.
The Bacon family proved this claim when they showed the world their version of “motherhood uncensored.” Featuring Amanda Bacon in a large “mom diaper” she fashioned in herself, the picture is a hilarious look into the real situations some new parents experience when raising their first child. With a big smile and a thumbs up, Amanda’s fiance Ken Hardy holds their son in his arms in the foreground of the picture.’
Not the Traditional Look at Parenting
‘Located in Wilmington, North Carolina, Amanda and Ken wanted to provide a unique look into how ridiculous parenting can get at times. Despite the challenges faced when raising a child, it is always important to try and find humor in the little things, and Amanda clearly proves that with her hilarious rendition of a “mom diaper.”
“I’m sharing this picture because it’s real. This is motherhood; it’s raw, stunning, messy, and freaking hilarious all rolled into one,” Amanda wrote on her original Facebook post.’
The Things We Don’t Talk About…
‘Within a day of uploading the picture online, Amanda’s post was shared almost 100,000 times! Although initially nervous about posing such a personal and potentially controversial picture, Amanda was thrilled with the response her “mother uncensored” received.
“Some people find this uncomfortable, it’s probably because this part isn’t talked about. We all should try and educate, empower, and embrace every aspect of childbirth, including moments like this. And do it while having a sense of humor,” Amanda explained in her Facebook caption for the photo.’
Too Far, or Just Right?
‘“Why feel ashamed over something that’s natural? It’s not just spoken enough about, and I figured since the picture is both hilarious and honest, I’d go for it. Let other women know it’s normal, beautiful, and to find humor throughout the whole experience,” Amanda stated.
Mothers everywhere should never feel ashamed or embarrassed over the things they have to deal with during motherhood, and lucky for us, Amanda Bacon and her husband Ken were willing to be a shining example of how you can make fun of some of the more ridiculous experiences a mother may face.’
