A young Missouri woman was nearly beaten to death by her boyfriend, left blind in one eye and with horrific wounds all over her face. The police desperately pursued the attacker, but the woman’s family also decided to take things into their own hands, adamant to get her justice.
20 year old Chelsea Simmons was brutally attacked and almost killed by her boyfriend Cedric Powe during an argument, but her family was not going to let him get away with it. “Apparently he choked her until she passed out, brought her back, then choked her again and continually stomped on her head,” said Simmons’ stepmother, Melissa Zack. “She’s scared and she probably will be forever.”
A Fathers Reward
After the attack, Cedric fled the south side of St. Louis, but Chelsea’s father offered $500 to anyone that knows where he is. “He needs to be caught so that this doesn’t happen to anyone else, and I don’t have to worry about it happening to her ever again,” said Simmons’ stepmother.
Not The First Time
Because of the beating, doctors say the young woman will endure pain from this brutal attack for the rest of her life. Her ex boyfriend was previously arrested in 2008 for battery and assault, and was sentenced to a year in prison after pleading guilty to the obstruction of justice charge.
Still On The Run
Chelsea filed a restraining order against Cedric on Dec. 27, but family is afraid he will come back and seek revenge for the manhunt her father has orchestrated. Hopefully he’s caught soon!
