In many cases, it’s not a good thing when teen boys behind the wheel get distracted by an attractive woman and take their eyes off the road.
But that’s exactly what just happened here, and they’re being hailed as heroes.
A Night Out
While driving around together at night, good friends Aaron Arias, 19 and Jamal Harris, 17 noticed a young woman in the back seat of the car next to them. The hormonal teens obviously tried to get the pretty girls attention, but they quickly noticed something that gave them chills.
When they made eye contact with the young woman, they noticed her mouthing words that seemed to be “help me.” They pulled out their phones and called the police immediately, just in case she was truly in danger. What happened next proved they were right to call and report what they witnessed.
“Yes, I’m on the highway. I’m witnessing a robbery. Not a robbery, a kidnapping,” Aaron told the dispatcher. “It’s me and another guy. So we’re checking out the girl in the backseat because we’re like, ‘OK, she’s kind of attractive’, and then all of a sudden the guy is turned back, looking at us.”
It turns out the woman was 25 years old, and was kidnapped at gunpoint by 37-year-old Charles Atkins Lewis and taken away in his car. Thankfully the police were able to track down the car, and the kidnapper was charged with aggravated kidnapping and aggravated robbery.
After being rescued, the two teens met up with the woman they saw in the backseat that night, and she told them she wouldn’t be alive if it weren’t for them. “I would describe it as the best hug I have ever gotten,” Aaron said.
