17 Handy Survival Foods That Every Family Should Have

There is an age old saying that I like to stick strongly by.

It’s better safe than sorry.

This couldn’t be truer, especially when it comes to natural disasters.

Whether it’s a flood or a hurricane, it’s always best to have supplies for you and your family.

Emergency supplies need to be things that will last, because you never know when you may need them!

But what should you stock up with? Canned food and water is of course a must, but there are also some products that are handy in an emergency some people don’t think about.

Here are a few handy food supplies every family should stock up on in case of an emergency!

1. Dried Fruit

If an emergency situation happens then fresh fruit will likely not be available. But that shouldn’t mean you stop eating your five a day!

It’s an important part of the diet! That’s why dried fruit is a must and it’ll provide you with the necessary fiber and vitamins that fruits offer.

2. Canned Fruit and Vegatables

Because of they way they’re stored, canned foods do not go bad and can be eaten without any preparations.

This means that canned veggies and fruit can be an indispensable resource for those horrible moments where everything goes wrong.

3. Crackers

Crackers are an enjoyable snack but they’re also very handy for those emergency situations.

As long as they’re sealed and dry it takes a lot for them to go bad!

These are very similar to the canned vegetables and fruits, however these function more as a fancier, full-meals for those who can’t cook.
