15 Childish Things You'll Never Be Too Old For

Being an adult isn’t all that fun. If I’d known this when I was a kid, I’d have never made that wish to be a grown up at my 6th birthday party. Let’s face it, kids have way more fun than we do, but why does that have to be the case? Some things are so much fun that they bring out the child in even the grumpiest old man, so here’s a list of 15 of the most childish things that you’re never too old for. After all, you’re as young as you feel!

1. Spinning in a swivel chair

Anyone who sits in a swivel chair and doesn’t want to spin in it has no sense of fun. I don’t care how dizzy I’m going to get, I’m going to spin in this thing until I can’t walk!

2. Blowing Bubbles

It doesn’t matter if it’s a bubble wand, blowing bubbles in your milk or even just making a bubble beard in your bubble bath, bubbles are fun. It doesn’t matter who you are, everyone loves bubbles.

3. Face Painting

Going to get your face painted was one of the most fun things ever when you were a kid. Choosing what you wanted to be out of the book and then finally looking in the mirror to see that you’d magically become Spiderman within a few minutes was brilliant and I’m not going to stop that now. I still want to be Spiderman!

4. Long Phone Calls With Your Friends

This is more teen-ish than childish, but in this age of smartphones, texts and Facebook messaging have taken the place of a good old fashioned phone call. But it must be said, no matter how old you are there’s nothing better than getting on the phone with a good friend for a nice long catch up about nothing in particular.

5. Dancing Like Nobody’s Watching

One thing I love about toddlers is that when they learn to dance, they shake it with all the confidence in the world. When you get older, it’s hard to be so sure about your moves but that’s why it feels so good when you just let it go and boogie on down like you’re 2 years old again!

6. Kids Movies

Sure if anybody asks me I’ll probably say that my favourite film is something adult and sophisticated but I’m lying. Toy Story is the best film ever and I will fight anyone who disagrees.

7. Riding Shopping Carts

Riding a shopping cart down the aisle of a supermarket is the most fun you can have while shopping. Bonus points if you shout “wheeee” while you ride!

8. Playing With Lego

Whether you’re building a tiny house or an architectural masterpiece, getting creative with lego has no age limit… Even if the box says it’s suitable for kids aged 4-99!

9. Hot Chocolate

If enjoying a big steaming mug of hot chocolate is wrong, then I don’t wanna be right! Pile it high with marshmallows and whipped cream for a mug full of perfection!

10. Making Funny Faces

Did anyone else’s Mom tell them that the wind would change and they’d stick that way when they were kids? Because if she’s right I’m going to get to a point in my life where I’ll have to accept looking like Mr Bean forever!

11. Fart Jokes

They’re juvenile, they’re a natural bodily function, and they’re hilarious! Come on people, who can honestly say they haven’t had to stifle a giggle when someone’s let one rip at precisely the wrong moment?

12. Colouring

I love that adult colouring books are a thing now, not because I stopped colouring in when I hit my teenage years, but because there’s only so many times I can colour in pictures of Disney Princesses before it gets old! Variety is the spice of life, after all!

13. Eating Cookie Dough

The best thing about doing any baking is getting to eat whatever’s left in the mixing bowl, and if I “accidentally” make more than I need then that’s just a win-win situation! Cookies, anyone?

14. Bouncy Castles

I think that whenever bouncy castles are at an event they should have a designated adult only time… just because I want to bounce to my heart’s content without worrying about landing on a rogue five year old!

15. Playgrounds

If you’ve ever wanted to have a go on the swings or a roundabout but talked yourself out of it because you’re “too old for that”, think again! The lady in this video is 93 years old and she’s not letting her age stop her from enjoying this slide!
