The one thing we can all count on is fruit, it seems like that’s always good for us! But there are some fruits that are better at combating those extra pounds you’re looking to lose than others. 1. Drop the apricots!
Not only can apricots lead to indigestion, but they’re full of a chemical compound called amygdalin, which forms hydrogen cyanide when in the stomach. Yep, cyanide! Keep the apricots to a minimum and grab some strawberries instead!
Strawberries are not only delicious but they’re stuffed full of Vitamin C, which helps to get rid of cellulite, and fibre which will keep your digestive system running smoothly.
2. Lose the pears!
The total opposite of strawberries, pears can cause constipation and nobody wants that! Let’s face it, you’re not losing any weight if you’re all blocked up! Instead, pick up some big juicy melons… the fruit kind, you filthy animal!
Melons and watermelons are also full to bursting with fibre and water, keeping your system regular. They’ll also keep you hydrated, which makes them the perfect hot weather snack.
3. Au revoir avocados!
Avocado might seem innocent enough but that little green fruit is packing a calorific punch! Just one cup of cubed avocado is worth 240 calories! Keep your calorie count lower by choosing berries instead.
Forest berries are another good source of vitamin C and also contain heaps of antioxidants. Look out fat because forest berries are coming for you and they’ll send you packing fast!
4. Goodbye grapes!
If you want your diet to go places, stay away from the grapes! They’re full of sugar, hard to digest, contain seeds that can damage your intestines, and can damage tooth enamel with their acids! Step away from the grapes and grab an apple instead.
Apples are the perfect diet snack! They contain no fat and have a staggeringly low calorie count of 65 calories per cup of chopped apple. Compare that to avocado and you can see why apples are a winner! And that doesn’t even begin to mention the fibre and antioxidants they’re full of. Apples are the best!
5. Bye bye bananas!
Bananas might seem like they’d be great for you, and they can be in moderation. However, scientists have recently found evidence to suggest that bananas contain substances that could stop fat from splitting. And I mean actual splitting, not like a banana split, those are definitely bad for you. Instead, you should grab a grapefruit!
The holy grail of diet foods, the simple grapefruit has super powerful fat burning qualities. The enzymes in grapefruit kill calories like there’s nothing to it, so pair one with any high calorie meal to get rid of any guilt you might have been feeling. Maybe they should start selling grapefruit in McDonalds!
