We should all try to look after our selves a bit better than we currently do.
Going to the gym a bit more, and cutting down on the fast food and surgery treats are all great ways of getting healthier.
After all, how are we suppose to fight off death and live a long and happy life if we can barely manage a flight of stairs without getting out of breath!
I don’t suggest you become a fitness fanatic, but when you reach a certain age, healthy living is more and more important.
Trust me, it’s something you won’t regret in the long run!
There are quite a few people around the world who suffer from sciatica/
Sciatica is a common medical condition which causes a great deal of pain, which goes down your leg from your lower back.
It’s caused by irritation to the sciatic nerve.
The pain can go down the back, outside, or front of the leg. Numbness of the back occurs often, but it’s not always present.
It’s thought that 40% of the population suffers from this condition at some point in their lives.
Thankfully, there are a number of ways you can elevate or even get rid of this nasty little pain.
For those of you who do not know, the sciatic nerve is located in the lower spine and it goes all the way down the leg.
The vast majority of sciatica cases result from a herniated spinal disc.
When a disc presses or pinches the sciatic nerve, a pain usually appears and then spreads all the way to the feet.
It’s not a nice feeling!
The pain, if it becomes too severe or stays for quite a while, can be undone with surgery.
But thankfully, there are a number of handy ways to elevate the pain naturally.
Here are just a few!
1. Yoga: The Cat-Cow Position
Yoga is good for a lot of things, but it’s also incredible when it comes to alleviating back pain.
One of the best poses for this is the cat-cow pose.
All you have to do is place your hands and knees on the floor and follow the movement in the animation.
Simply exhale as you arch your back like a cat.
This position, when done correctly, can alleviate some of the sciatic nerve pain on its own. But, if the pain becomes unbearable, then stop immediately.
2. Yoga: An Open-Mouthed Sphynx
Lay your body flat on the ground and raise yourself up with your elbows against the floor.
Then open your mouth wide and stick out your tongue.
Here are some more yoga exercises that can help with your back pain.
3. Alternate Between Hot And Cold To Soothe The Pain
Putting an ice pack on your lower back can be beneficial if you need a quick relief, but it’s recommended that you follow it up with a hot bath.
4. Deep Massages
A deep massage will relieve the sciatica pain, but it will also improve your circulation and mood! Not only that, but it’ll also give you some much-needed relaxation.
5. Getting Enough Sleep
Sleep is essential for everyone, but it’s more important if your suffering from pain.
Sleep is essential when it comes to the restoration and it taking place in your body.
Sciatic nerve pain can go away on its own if the back is maintained properly, which sleep is an important part.
This alternative treatment method has been used to treat pain for countless years.
This method is always worth trying, especially if the other methods haven’t been successful.
7. Avoid Sitting Or Standing For Long Periods Of Time
Whether you are sitting or standing at work, it’s always best to try and avoid doing it constantly from 9 am to 5 pm.
Mixing the two is essential, as it has been shown that pain from a herniated disc can be worse when people are not moving.
